About the Tilton Main Street Program Façade Improvement Grant

Tilton Main Street Design is dedicated to making Tilton a vibrant and inviting place to work, shop, or visit. One of our most attractive features is the charming and authentic character of our downtown. We have so many beautiful Victorian-era statues and buildings. They’re part of the legacy of Charles Tilton, industrialist and town father. Tilton in its heyday was a thriving commercial center. Let’s make the most of what we’ve got - beautiful turn-of-the-century architecture - and a great location poised to grow!

The design committee’s role is to assist you, Main St. merchants and property owners, to make informed choices about design. The committee seeks opportunities to introduce property owners to new ideas, techniques or experts who share the committee’s vision of the downtown environment. We will help you with recommendations for paint colors, awning treatments, masonry repair, signs, and window replacement.

Who is eligible?
Building and business owners of existing commercial buildings within the designated Main Street area – from Riverfront Place to the island - are eligible.

What is eligible?

Repair to building exterior facades including: entrances, doors, windows, cornices, and other decorative detail, awnings, signs, paint, masonry cleaning, lighting and other renovations that will improve the aesthetic quality of the building. Additionally, in some cases, landscape improvement will be eligible as well.
